I've been knitting since 2007, a month after I picked up a crochet needle again after many years. I needed to do something creative and crafty after months and months (9 months to be exact) of doing nothing but being sick. After giving birth, I decided that it was time to go back to doing what I enjoyed the most, creating things with my hands.
I started to knit because I wanted to make purses and there are not many purse patterns that are free on the internet. There was also the fact that there are so many knitting resources and so many knitting patterns and on and on. I remember the first yarn excursion I had. It was at Babetta's Yarn and Gifts. I walked in and was immediately drawn in by the colors and textures of the fiber. Also, Babetta is a wonderful person and very welcoming. I still have the yarn that I bought from her...at the time, I was very happy with them. Now that I know better, I think I should have just gotten some Cascade 220.
Since then, I have joined one of her knitting groups and am very happy to say that I have friends: people I can talk with and feel comfortable around. It feels nice to be a Knitter.
